Jungle Book
Overview
A journey into the highlands of Central India, a land that inspired the famous Jungle Book, with a hope to meet the real-life Sher Khan, Baloo, and Bagheera.
These forests are ancient, fragrant with teak and sal, and threaded with rivers and grasslands as far as the eye can see. Central India is home to some of India’s most charismatic wildlife; Safaris across the diverse habitats of Kanha, Pench, and Tadoba Tiger Reserves offer thrilling encounters with Bengal Tigers, stealthy Leopards, and Sloth Bears. Herds of Barasingha graze in open meadows, while Asiatic Wild Dogs, Gaur, Nilgai, and Sambar deer move through picturesque deciduous forest. This is one of the few regions where rare melanistic leopards are occasionally seen, and birdlife is equally rewarding with raptors, owls, and forest endemics in abundance. The changing landscapes, from the bamboo thickets and broadleaf forests of Kanha to the drier teak-dominated terrain of Pench and Tadoba, make each park distinct in mood and wildlife activity. Guests are hosted at premier wildlife lodges such as the Tadoba Jungle Camp (or similar), each offering comfort, hospitality, and proximity to the wild. This is a deep dive into India’s tiger country: raw, evocative, and endlessly rewarding for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
